Sunburst Mountain, Mount Assiniboine Valley

Sunburst Mountain is in the Mount Assiniboine Valley in southeast B.C. The Mountain is immediately southeast of Sunburst Lake, west of Lake Magog at the base of Mount Assiniboine, and south of Cerulean Lake. In the painting, Mount Assiniboine is to the immediate left of Sunburst Mountain.

I flew into the area by Alpine Helicopters and stayed at the Mount Assiniboine lodge. I went hiking, came upon this scene, took a picture, and eventually painted it.

The whole area is stunning and well worth a trip to see it.
