I spent so many years travelling through the Rockies and camping. However I had never been to Maligne Lake, so I decided to take a trip see it. I caught the little boat tour to Spirit Island and took this photograph from there.
When we came back, I had a fair walk back to the parking lot. As I approached it there were a line of people standing on the edge of it staring at me. It was intimidating, so I finally said “What?” They said, “Didn’t you see the bear?” I turned around and there was a large grizzly about 10’ behind me. I just kept walking and it crossed the trail and went into the bush. What I couldn’t believe was everyone went running after it to get pictures. I kept telling them to get into their vehicles, but no-one listened. I just left.
